Rafael Canizares was born in Terrassa in 1957.


At the age of 13 years and began his musical training began to play at Peņas Flamenco in Barcelona. From a very early age and attended the flamenco tablaos to 15 years to debut as a guest of flamenco dancers, as such, well known in tablaos as La Bodega del Toro and El Cordobés. At 17 years old was selected by the flamencologist Carlos Almendros representing the flamenco guitar of Catalunya in the International Guitar Flamenco de Jerez de la Frontera.


Rafael Canizares became one of the most requested guitarists to accompany singing at festivals in Barcelona. Has accompanied the likes of: Fosforito, dog Paterna, Diego Clavel, Manuel Gerena, Curro de Utrera, El Cabrero, Manolo River, Curro de Lucena, The Galleguita, Miguel Vargas, Duquende, Chocolate, Curro Malena, The Girl of the Puebla, Ana Reverte, Jarrito Roque Montoya, Luis de Cordoba, Jimenez Rejane, La Galleguita, Pepe Nunez Jimenez and Lorena The Rejane. He has also worked with musicians such as Carlos Benavent, Jorge Pardo, Salvador Niebla, Albert Pla, Ze Eduardo, and so on.

 

In the 80 Rafael Canizares served as soloist and first guitaristMaruja Garrido for more than six years in the Los Tarantos Tablao flamenco, having accompanied some of the most representative singers and dancers of the world flamenco in Barcelona as La Tani , Tamara Carmona, Pharaoh, Curro Maruja Garrido Garrido and so on.

 

In 1986 he moved to the United States where he lived for six years, there Rafael Canizares served as concertmaster in numerous places by providing their knowledge in teaching many students in New York and Miami.


In 1992 he returned to Barcelona, where he became part of the group of his brother Juan Manuel Caņizares acting together on this in numerous festivals across Europe. In 1993, she received the first prize of national Flamenco Guitar "Bordon Miner" in the XXIII Festival of Mines in La Union (Murcia).


Currently, and for six years Rafael Canizares is a professor in the College of Music in Catalonia (ESMUC) teaching degree of flamenco guitar. It is also the founder and first director of the Flemish school Guitarra created in Spain, where he teaches development and refinement to the new values.
